Air Vanuatu Suspends International Flights

Air Vanuatu today announced that all international flights to and from Australia and New Zealand are suspended effective immediately as of this evening.

The safety of our employees and our passengers remain our first priority and our duty of care.

This afternoon, the Board of Directors of Air Vanuatu took the difficult decision to suspend the national airline’s scheduled international services until further notice.

All services to and from Australia and New Zealand originally planned for Tuesday 24 March and Wednesday 25 March 2020 are immediately cancelled.

Air Vanuatu will coordinate future scheduling decisions with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) which will be providing clear guidelines and directives in the coming days.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Air Vanuatu Mr. Joel Lengsau stated “We have a duty of care to our employees first and foremost. We have considered their concerns as well as those of their families and have made the decision to suspend all international flights until further notice.”
