Air Vanuatu Expands Partnership with Solomon Airlines

The National Airline, Air Vanuatu, has this week announced further expansion to their flight schedules to and from New Zealand. There are now four Air Vanuatu return flights each week bringing the total passenger capacity to 1,280 a week and over sixty six thousand seats per year between New Zealand and Vanuatu.

One of the post COVID-19 changes being reported for aviation in the pacific region, is that New Zealand and Australia travelers are choosing to travel closer to home on shorter flights. This means that regional demand for flights to the Pacific Islands has increased. The expansion of the New Zealand route by Air Vanuatu is a response to this increase in demand as well as supporting the return seasonal worker program that is a key earning opportunity for Ni Vanuatu working in New Zealand.

Air Vanuatu has provided the addr Vanuatu guests also. Air Vanuatu who had already contracted Solomon Airlines to fly one weekly flight to and from Auckland, has now doubled this to two weekly return flights. This not only expands the Air Vanuatu offering, but also provides more flights for New Zealanders traveling to the Solomon Islands who can now transit via Port Vila on the sitional flights to Auckland via their partnership with Solomon Airlines. The partner airline has acquired additional aircraft, and this means more flights can now be offered for Aiame day.

“We’re delighted with the success of the New Zealand route and will do all we can to further expand our network and our partnerships” states Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Greg Wilson of Air Vanuatu.

Air Vanuatu has also shared that the closer collaboration by the two pacific airlines also includes the support in other areas such as the announcement that Air Vanuatu has recently been appointed as the General Sales Agent in Vanuatu for Solomon Airlines. This means Air Vanuatu will co-ordinate all the sales activities on Solomon Airlines behalf.

Additional positive changes communicated by the airline include flight time changes to the Brisbane route to provide guests more appealing departure times out of Brisbane. The airline confirms that there are three return flights to Brisbane each week as well as the one direct flight from Brisbane to Espiritu Santo Island. The airline has continued to operate the five weekly return Sydney services, a weekly return flight from Fiji now operated by the larger Boeing 737 aircraft and the three weekly return fights to New Caledonia.

Air Vanuatu offers expanded schedule connecting New Zealand via partnership approach.
